A long, long time ago, I told all of you I had a Twitter account and a Jaiku account. I have since deleted THAT particular twitter account (which was kind of stupid since I will NEVER get that lucky for a username again!) but I have another Twitter account and I kept the Jaiku account.
Anywho, what I am getting at, since I have had trouble updating the blog for lack of time, I think I might be able to keep up with Twitters MUCH more easily for the time being. My Twitter address is twitter.com/citychicken. The Jaiku account I am letting “cool off” – I had made the all time fatal mistake of using my real name on there so when you would google my full and very unique name, boom = Jaiku. I don’t want every potential employer and all of my nosey classmates to know that much about me. In the future once that account is no longer associated with me, I might make it open again.
Ciao!
[EDIT] Look over to the left on my blog – you will see “Twitter Tweets” where my Twitter updates will appear on my blog now!!! Woot! So that means if you come here first and see I haven’t updated the blog, you can easily and quickly check out any Twitter updates – and if you click on “Twitter Tweets”, you will instantly be taken to my Twitter page (which is useful since the update here on the blog is NOT instantaneous)[/EDIT]
I am slowly re-stocking the pantry, using up old non-vegan foods, and getting educated about how to transition to a healthy vegan lifestyle rather than just eating vegan junkfoods (yes, there are vegan junkfoods). After the holidays I want to go all out with this and begin living my truth about what’s been “eating me”.
I’ve made a vegan wish list based on the info I have learned thus far. This is NOT a Christmas wish list so no, I’m not hinting anything to anyone. These are just items I hope to one day get my hands on – preferably through the 1/2 Price Book Store!!!
The Ultimate Vegan Guide by Erik Marcus – a brand spanking new book that I haven’t found anywhere but Amazon so far. Many books I have come across have so far tried to convince the reader why they should be a vegan. I don’t need convincing – I was on board before ever reading a book. Now I need to know how to transition, what to eat, and how to deal in a not-so-vegan world. That is what this book appears to be all about.
Veganomicon, The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook – I hear about this book all of the time and I have seen the recipes recreated on numerous vegan blogs. The meals look delicious and you can take a sneak peek at the recipes via Amazon’s “look inside” function. They sound good and the ingredients don’t seem to out of whack.
The Joy of Vegan Baking - this is a book I can wait on (I don’t bake much) but some day I would love to own for a couple of reasons: A) because without milk, eggs, or gelatin, baking with traditional recipes probably won’t work; and B) because I love the author! She does a podcast about veganism and compassionate living that is really wonderful and joyous and I find her voice, tone, and demeanor to be so relaxing.
A coffee grinder - I like coffee but more importantly I like and want to use more spices and flaxseeds so a grinder is a pretty important item.
A Vita-Mix blender - no doubt about it – this is an item I WILL own one day even though I might be well into my 30’s before that happens. Why would anyone spend over $300 on a blender? Because it is AMAZING!!! Smoothies, creamy vegetable based soups, and if I do any raw “cooking”, a blender will be essential.
A vegan multivitamin - vegan or not, I should be taking a multivitamin.
Well that is a start.
The major change to the blog is the change to the city chicken recipe page. I get 20-30 readers every day looking for a recipe for city chicken so I felt a bit in a pickle about what to do about the meat laden recipe. It has been decided.
Ciao.
So I know I haven’t been very good about updating lately but I have a new blogging goal for myself. Starting today, I plan to blog, at least a little bit, everyday.
Why blog everyday? It is more for my benefit than anything else – I’m not good at remembering “the when“, (the why, where, and how I tend to be good with). And it is better for readers too. Shorter entries make for more popular blogs.
Now for updates!
THE JOB: I know I have never actually said in the blog where it is that I am working – I have done that on purpose. The legal community is small and the gossip could drop the jaws on a group of 16 year old Orange County girls! It suffices to say that I am an intern in the criminal defense world. I really am enjoying the job. I am being involved in a lot of really interesting cases and issues and I haven’t yet been given any “busy work”. The attorneys I am working with are really interested in making sure this experience is invaluable and it already has been.
Other news – yesterday I went to an antique store about a 1/2 hour away from me. It was huge and full of the kinds of items I like. Employees there said that lots of people rent a hotel and shop for the weekend – you would need at least that in order to see the whole place. Sadly, I went right after leaving work and I was wearing heels. My feet hurt sooo bad after a few hours that I was limping around haha. I ended up finding a lot of things I like and the prices were better than at the shops closer to me. It was pretty fun.
Alrighty, back to work. TTYL.

Welcome to my international guests – this was in my list of linked views for my blog stats… it made me smile!
Twitter has become quite the rage. If you haven’t yet checked it out, now might be the time to do so. With the ability to be updated from the website, desktop apps (Twitteriffic for Mac users and Twitteroofor the rest of us), txt, and IM (on “good days), Twitter is quickly becoming a popular way to answer the question: What are you doing?
Over the last week, Twitter was down quite a bit and thus Jaiku had a sudden surge in users.
I would suggest joining both now. Here’s why: (1) Usernames- I managed to snag BobbieLynn at Twitter and Bobbie at Jaiku – I have never been able to use “Bobbie” in the past, and (2) it seems pretty probable that Twittering will take off into many different apps and sub-groups.
The only frustrating parts of Twittering for me: (1) reading the public timeline which is often riddled with Chinese and/or Japanese characters and (2) Twitter is down sometimes and Twitter IM has yet to work for me. BUT – This makes it clear that Twitter is quickly expanding and makes me think that there will be major changes coming in the future. It will be nice to have been a member of the original thing…. and sometimes being an early user gets you perks! Nothing wrong with perks.
I’m currently using Twitteroo and Twitkuto make updates (I don’t txt and I would rather die than begin - don’t ask). Check out my updates:

I get the feeling I am going to be making this a regular thing.
Here are some of my favorites – the terms and phrases that have brought you, the readers, to me, the blogger.
“butt cramps” *this has become a VERY popular search topic… I may need to elaborate for those of you who have been… “suffering”.*
“What did you learn from this law class?” *this is the “ironic” one… this search term sent this poor person to THIS post… I am guessing they are concerned about the state of legal education after reading that!*
“my own fergie” *oh how I miss my OWN Fergie… for those of you who don’t know, that is my cat who lives with my parents in another state…*
“funny chicken ideas” *I wonder what else this person found!*
“neh owh heh eair eh” *no doubt in reference to the Oprah show about the secret language of babies!*
“boyfriend is getting fat” *DISCLAIMER – I have NEVER written that anywhere in my blog! lol.. just had to make sure not to upset my man
*
“sue my dad for maintenance” *if you knew of the possibility that your case may end up in student casebooks for years to come, you would likely re-think a law suit!*
“father act and actions”
and by far the most popular search terms have to do with “city chicken” and how to make it… again, the link is HERE if that is what you are looking for (although part of me has begun to feel guilty about having a recipe on my blog for a meat based dish… the only blogs I read on a daily basis are vegan!)
I figured I should make a post about my pages on “city chicken” and “city chickens” since that is where a great deal of traffic to my blog comes from and the links from searches send vistors to the blog rather than the pages themselves.
For City Chicken recipes and info on the origin of the name – go here.
For information on keeping chickens in the city and/or as pets – go here.
I have some great ideas for continued pages and fun, random information on chicken, chickens, and eggs for the future of this blog (most likely coming in summer 2007 once the semester is over). If you have any ideas that would add to the tie-in of the chicken theme, feel free to comment!
I also love antique items related to keeping/raising chickens. If you are aware of any blogs, sites, or have any finds of your own, please share!
So, wordpress has this very nifty feature. Whenever someone is directed to my blog based on a search they conducted, wordpress lets me know what terms they searched that led them here.
I manage to get a laugh out of this every single day . . . Typically the searches have to do with chicken or, as of yesturday, Knut the polar bear. However, there have been some that have just plain perplexed me.
Here are some of my favorites:
“Pearlas Sanborn” (or some other reference to the alleged lawsuit between Pepsi Co. and General Electric… these searches are in reference to my post on that rediculous spam e-mail about Bill Gates “giving away his fortune.”)
“how to hide city chickens” (I have no clue, but I am guessing building a coop for them is out of the question… perhaps you will need to get a zoning permit…??)
“why is it called city chicken” (there is a good story to it… I will do some research and make a special post all about city chicken since it seems to be a popular search that brings people to my blog!)
“city chicken pods”
“chicken kidnapped” (well that is sad)
“time off school for galbladder surgery”
“butt cramps” (no doubt in reference to my “butt cramps, derms, and a year in review” post!)
“freezer burnt chicken”
“hang chicken skin for dry skin” (well I am sure if you hang the skin it will dry… I just dont’ know WHY you would want a dried out chicken skin!)
Hello everyone. I finally created a header I really like. And I added a feature that is kind of fun: when I put a link in a post, all you have to do is put your mouse over the link and a preview of the page will pop up. It is kind of a nice way to let people decide whether or not they want to follow the link
Here is an example. The link is to one of my favorite vegan blogs: Vegan Yum Yum and the post is for the most delicious looking blueberry “hand pies”. Check it out!
So technically this is the first day of my spring break – and so far I am loving it! I slept in, cleaned the house up a bit, Brian came over for an hour or so before work, and I have the whole house to myself. I can just chill out and watch more Frasier before I have to get down to study time tomorrow.
Yesturday I went to meet with a woman in our professional development office. We discussed my potential interest in working in criminal law and some options for volunteer work and classes to get a feel for it. I am going to seriously look into some of those options.
Well, I have so much more I want to say but I think I will cut this short for the moment and get myself a heating pad… for some reason my lower back is really hurting today… it actually woke me up a few times last night. I figure I will try and calm that down before bed time tonight.
Hey ya’ll!
So after hearing a story on Montel about a woman fired because of her blog (which really had nothing in it about her job), I decided that I better remove any “real evidence” of who I am from this blog… although I would think that if anyone really wanted to know, they could figure it out. The only thing I had was a couple of pictures of myself from the first few posts here. You just never know how someone will take something the wrong way….
Anywho, last night I went out with a few people from school. It turns out that four of us have birthdays this week. We had dinner and a really good time. I am really glad I was invited and decided to go… it is the first time I have been out with anyone from my class thus far. Probably the best part was being with other girls (there were 4 other women there besides myself, and one guy who was carefully taking notes lol). I didn’t have many female friends in college so the only time I really get to hang out with “the girls” is when I see my friends from high school. It was fun to spend the evening laughing and chatting.
Tonight Brian and I will likely be going out; maybe to a movie. And tomorrow we are going out for Indian food for my birthday! I am really excited about that! I had Indian food for the first time in South Africa and really enjoyed it but I have been apprehensive about eating it anywhere that it might not be good. Brian heard about this place from a gentleman he works with (who happens to be from France, I will take that man’s word about good food!), and I also know someone who has gone there and enjoyed it. I can’t wait for some Naan and Samosa’s!!
Oh and some good news for critters. I had been unaware of the fact that POM, the maker of those wonderful (but kinda $$) pomegranate juices, still tested on animals! I was really surprised by that considering that POM put themselves out there as being all bohemian and healthy and natural….
Well, thanks to PETA, POM no longer tests on animals! I guess my feeling about the whole animals testing issue is… “Why”? With all of the info and technology we now have, why test on rats and then compare those results to human beings when it has been proven over and over again that *GASP* rats aren’t like humans! Sheesh…
Anyhow… woohoo POM.

Penis cookies!! Hey… at least this version is vegan….
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Found these at Vegan Cupcakes but sadly there isn’t a whole lot of info about them… cute idea though
BTW – don’t go to that blog unless you plan on immediately going out and buying cupcakes or making tons of them yourself… that site is full of “food porn”…
Hola ya’ll.
(gee, that was a nifty intro….)
Anywho, I am home for a couple weeks … either I will update a whole lot or very little at all … I am not sure which yet. Hopefully I will get to see some of you that I have not seen for a long time!
*Mom, Ron and I did x-mas gifts tonight… woohoo, I got the greatest “bed lounger” from posture pedic and a little lap desk made especially for the lounger. This will be SO wonderful for all of the long hours reading!! I also got a lot of M&M related gifts, (really cute and fun ones including the most amazing M&M scrapbook that was put together by an Aunt), and a “teach yourself card tricks” set (something for those “I just don’t wanna read cases no more” moments), plus lots of other fun stuff… it was really great!*
In other news, I have created an additional blog. It is really nothing serious – just a place to write about going vegetarian in 2007 and the info I find about vegetarianism/veganism. I chose to put this in a seperate blog b.c.:
1) I know some people feel “preached to” when the subject of veggie lifestyles are brought up and I don’t want my fam and friends to feel like I am being judgmental
&
2) Because there are a lot of reasons for going veg that I need to remind MYSELF of during those weak moments and I want a place where I can compile all of that info.
So, feel free to check it out, feel free not to. There will not be a link on that blog back to this one and I plan to keep it rather impersonal with regards to the rest of my life beyond veggie-ism and school (and school is only included because it affects my ability to have time to cook and plan meals so much).

If my blog is a mess right now, sorry… I am cleaning up the layout because I created a new graphic I wanna use… we shall see how it goes
[update] Well, so far so good. I altered a gettyimages photo to create the graphic at the top of the page and I found a template online and altered colors till I came up with this… I likes. [/update]
So, Merry Christmas! lol. I keep forgetting today is Christmas. I went out to a gas station this morning. I noticed CVS was open and remembered that a Jewish friend of mine once mentioned this… I might head out there later. I had lots of stuff I wanted to b.s. about, but it’s getting late and Brian will be out of work in a couple hours and then we are heading to his fathers to celebrate tonight.
OH – I am sure I have mentioned before (certainly in person/phone if not on the blog before) that Brian is not only an amazing and wonderful boyfriend but also just a wonderful person… and that he has inherited all of that from his family. I spent yesturday with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin, sister, and father (and their s.o.’s) and it was just a great way to celebrate the holidays. It was great fun and they are all so kind, warm, and generous. I am so happy to be so lucky to have a “family” here as well as back at home to spend times like these with.
P.S.:
Like the Geico commercials? Watch them here! A whole list of videos is available for viewing of the Gecko, Cavemen (including the new “Therapy” video) and the “hired actors” commercials.
Ok, more to say…
I LOVE this blog. Can’t help myself… there is something strangely intriguing about Peptobismal ice cream, headcheese, and sweetbreads…
Oh, and the reason I found that blog in the first place?
Because of Cats in Sinks.com. The owner of blogjam is also the owner/operator of Cats in Sinks… and who doesn’t love a cat in a sink?? Well, maybe a cat hater… but we don’t care about them right now
Speaking of cats….
Stuff on my cat.com will make you smile… promise. And if you are feeling rather… “sick”, check out Jeff’s website – it is linked in my “Links” section to the right.
Yea, I am addicted to these goofy sites… but then again, after being forced to over think everything I do for law school, I need no-brainers in my down time.
